Travel (PGW) Story: Five Regional Cocktails

Just having turned 21 myself, I have a new obsession with everything cocktails.

In this story, I looked at the background of five famous and regional cocktails. I tell the background of each beverage and give you the places in it's specific home city that make it best. Drink up!

Travel (PGW) Story: Where the Chefs Eat - Atlantic City

I attended the Savor Borgata event in Atlantic City this fall and had the chance to speak with some of my favorite chefs and culinary celebrity idols. I asked them about where in Atlantic City they like to eat and I got the same two answers every time. What are they? Read and you shall find out!

Travel (PGW) Story: 10 Gourmet Getaways

This was such a fun story to put together. This is about the country's top 10 Gourmet Getaways, which is my title (not that I made it up) for culinary learning vacations. With options all over the country, you can choose one that is close to home or make a trip of it and travel to learn all there is to know about cooking and, more importantly, eating!

Travel (PGW) Story: Three Days, Nine Meals - Denver

Go Broncos! Yet another 'Three Days, Nine Meals' story, this piece is about the unique (and land-locked) dining scene of Denver, Colorado. As a local of Chicago, I love getting to promote Mid-Western cities and Denver has tons of amazing chefs doing new and inventive things in their kitchens. Definitely a great city, make sure to try these unique restaurants when your in town next.

Travel (PGW) Story: Three Days, Nine Meals - D.C.

Another story in the Three Days, Nine Meals series, this article is about the dining scene of Washington D.C. One of the best cities for power dining, these are definitely the locales to try out when you next find yourself in the nation's capital.

Travel (PGW) Story: Three Days, Nine Meals - Miami

Continuing my long running series 'Three Days, Nine Meals,' I listed the must-go, off-the-brochure foodie hot spots for visitors to the famous Floridian city of Miami. The city offers a ton of great food, including much more than the Caribbean flavors the area is known for.

AMNew York: Hot Hotels for 2010

This was a story about new hotel openings that appeared on the travel page of the January 5th edition of AMNY.

This was my last (as of right now) story that I wrote for AMNY. I had a great time working there and I can't say enough about how awesome everyone working there is. I learned so much and got to write even more.

My final piece was about new hotels that are opening in 2010. Personally, I cant wait to stay at them all!

AMNew York: Soup-er Meals

This story had a gorgeous spread in the Thursday, January 7th issue of AMNY.

The piece began with the idea that during the winter months everyone wants to eat something that heats them up from the inside out. That something is most likely SOUP! But put down the can and try the gourmet soup offerings at some of the great places I discuss in this article.

AMNew York: No-Fuss New Year's

This was the story on the eating page in AMNY for the weekend beginning on December 30th.

I spoke with Chris Santos - owner of The Stanton Social and frequent Food Network face - about how to throw a quick, easy, but still totally awesome New Year's Eve party. A lot of the tips can translate to other holiday parties, so it is still a very valid piece. Also, Chris is the nicest and funniest guy ever.

AMNew York: Hot Getaways

"Hot Getaways: Why Wait?" appeared on the travel page of the December 22 issue of AMNew York.

This was a story about last minute deals going on in HOT places. The basic concept was that New Yorkers might be looking for a warm place to get rid of vacation days before the beginning of the year. I complied a story that discussed the different hotels and some great deals that were attached to the selected hotels.

AMNew York: Spirit of the Season

This very merry article was on the dining out page of the December 10th AMNY.

I got to tour, taste and write about places in the city that take the Christmas spirit to the next level! It definitely put me in the holiday mood and I hope that it put you in that same mood. (Rolf's is a must go to between Thanksgiving and New Year's.)

AmNew York: NYE in Atlantic City

Appearing on the December 8th travel page of AMNY, this was a story about how to welcome the new decade in Jersey's favorite locale - Atlantic City.

To east coasters, the A.C. is like a little piece of paradise. I complied a story about what each property was doing for the holiday and what to expect from those celebrations. And yes - What happens in the A.C., should stay there.

AMNew York: Ski Like a Celeb

This appeared in the November 24th issue of AMNY on the Travel page.

I did some research into where celebs stay during ski season and wrote about hotels that seemed to be the most luxurious. The best part was that I wrote both sides of the stay - how celebs stay and how 'mere mortals' can enjoy (almost) the same things.

AMNew York: NYC's Best Bagels

This story appeared in the Dining Out section of the November 5th issue of AMNY.

A very hotly contested topic, my trusty taster friend and I set out to find the best bagels in New York. We tried the favorites (Absolute, H+H, etc.) and some small holes in the wall (get it?). We didn't do a list, but each bagel place's pros and cons are discussed.

AMNew York: Beyond HR's Stereotypes

This is another Job Front story that I wrote for the November 2nd issue of AMNew York. This story tried to answer the question - What does the HR department do? I spoke to six HR professionals and tried to explain their very complex job in simple terms.

AMNew York: Urban Composting: A Wormy Way of Life

I wrote this for the Job Front section of AMNY on Monday, October 12th. It is a part of a continuing series called 'Quirky Work' that the features editor, Lucy Blatter, thought up. I did my Quirky Work piece on a NYC composter named Christine Datz-Romero. She is also the co-founder of the Lower East Side Ecology Center. She is super cool and if you are into environmentalism or volunteering, you should totally try to talk with her.

AMNew York: Off the Chain

This is a story about the boutique chain restaurants in New York City that ran in AMNY on October 7th.

Skip the Golden Arches, but still get a quick meal on the cheap at these great locales!

AMNew York: Chelsea Arts and Where to Eat

This was a Dining Out story in the October 1st issue of AMNew York. I looked at the area around the Chelsea galleries and found the best locales for a quick bite after a day of full of art viewing.

First (Kinda) Story on AMNY

Hey followers! (Yes, I know that right now I have three, but I am just hoping that there are people out there who read me, but just don't take the extra moment to click on being a follower.)

Anyway, I am back in NYC and in the thick of my senior year. Fall semester I interned at AMNY - the free, daily newspaper that is handed out on the New York City subways.

During my tenure, I wrote a small sidebars and all of the features briefs (both of which I receive bylines for).

BUT... this is officially my first real article. Here is the link!!!
